	  iTest programs. These are the modules stored inside the iTest hardware that

    • 
	      D-channel protocol analysis. Displays the state of the BRI through
	      13 leds. D-channel data is transfered to the PC (via serial interface).
	    
    • 
	      Activation. Activates the BRI and holds activation when iTest is switched
	      on.
	    
    • 
	      Extended Cable test. Extended display of pair reversals. Tests on
	      the "extended passive bus" and long "point-to-point" connections are possible
	      (variable timing).
	    
    • 
	      BERT Analysis. Read data on both B-channels and in both directions
	      (NT->TE and TE->NT). Transfer bit errors to the PC. Analysis of errors
	      is done with the PC software "BERT.EXE".
	    
    • 
	      NT simulation (only Layer 1). Correct cable connection and basic
	      functionality of connected TEs may be checked without a NT. Pair reversals,
	      open and short circuits as well as correct layer 1 activity is detected.
	    
    • 
	      B-channel analysis of HDLC formated data. Data is sent to the PC via
	      the serial interface at a speed of 230.400 kbps. A high speed COM port at
	      the PC is required.
	    
    • 
	      Selftest. All internal modules and the LEDs are tested.
	    
    • 
	      Programing mode. Module to read, write and verify the internal modules.
	      These are stored in a FLASH memory inside the iTest.

      iState is a low cost ISDN tester. Its functions are based on the
      iTest, where the D-channel protocol analysis
      has been omitted, because not every technitian needs it. The functons of
      iState go far beyond the very simple "ISDN phase checkers" which only check
